This marvellous old pub in Catteshall Lane, Farncombe was one of Surrey's last true cider houses, which sold virtually nothing but proper cider. I have fond (if somewhat blurred) memories of a number of trips to this pub. On one visit, I and a few friends were challenged to a tug'o'war in the large garden at the back, which had a stream through the middle. Just before we were able to pull the locals' team into the stream they all let go at once, and I, being anchor man ended up head first in the ditch outside the gents. Nothing another pint or two couldn't fix though... I have been told that the pub was sold for private housing and is no longer open. If this is not true, please could somebody tell me so!
