This was built as the Miners' Welfare Hall in 1924 and was used by the employees of Barnbrough, Goldthorpe and Highgate collieries between the 1920s and the 1990s. The Dearne Playhouse was given a £1M renovation in 2005, which was generously funded by the Arts Council. It was officially opened on July 15th, 2006 by the actor Brian Blessed who attended Bolton on Dearne Secondary Modern School. For more details, please see http://dearneplayhouse.co.uk .
