Since 1992, this statue of Sir Charles Morgan (1760-1846) has been situated on Bridge Street, he was a Member of Parliament and wealthy landowner in Newport in the 19th Century. This statue dates from 1850, four years after his death. It was sculpted in bronze by J.E.Thomas and was originally placed in the High Street, but remained there for just ten years before being removed. The question is where was it during the 132 years between these dates?
