Several feet away, to the photographer’s right, is the termination of "Westhorpe", one of the principal roads leading away from Westhorpe's former Market Square. At the foot of Leachcroft Hill - a road that ascends to Oxton Road (the B6386) - is Pinder’s Cottage (visible in the trees), the former home of the village pinder who was responsible for the temporary detention of unclaimed stray cattle being kept in the village Pinfold, the area of pasture on the other side of the gate.
