The photographer was standing at the termination of "Westhorpe", one of Westhorpe's principal roads, looking towards the centre of the village. Appearing to sweep in from the left is Leachcroft Hill, a road that has descended to this point from Oxton Road (the B6386). A former cattle watering place is visible on the right-hand side of the road fed by a water from the Westhorpe Dumble (a water course). This pool once acted as a watering hole for stray cattle being kept in the village Pinfold, the field on the photographer’s left.
