This house at The Butts in the town centre is included in the Kelso Town Trail Walk. It was named after the novel by Sir Walter Scott and belonged to his aunt Janet. Scott stayed here for a while in 1783 and there is a bust of him on a gable wall and a sculpture of one of his dogs above a gateway to commemorate this.
