There are several blocks of modern flats beside the Union Canal at Meggetland. I went to see one once; it had a huge, very awkwardly-shaped master bedroom and a matchbox-sized second bedroom, and the living, dining and kitchen areas were all in one space which was very little bigger than the main bedroom. It seemed strange that in new-build on a brownfield site they could not have got the proportions, sizes and shapes of the rooms rather better balanced.
