Viewed from Brokenford footbridge, this is the cleared depot of the Wilmot & Mansour Company, which developed the 'FROG' model aircraft and 'Jetex' model solid fuel motor in the '30s. Post-war, their main site was in Salisbury Road Totton, but the company branched out into packaging and transport and the Brokenford site was used for this purpose. In the '50s and '60s the site was particularly active in shipping the personal effects of US military personnel who were returning home after their tour of duty in the UK.
