Balderton Brook flows from left to right, across the photo, heading for the River Dee. The other ditch is one of the main drainage ditches alongside the A5104 Chester to Broughton road. The sluice gate is all part of the flood management system to stop water flowing back along the ditch. The houses are part of the Brook Farm Estate.
