Information from 'Town and Country Trail' leaflet (available from Image ): "This building dates from 1889 when it housed the Reading Room and was a hub of social activity (men only!). After many empty years the building is now a Youth Drop-in Centre. The red sandstone is from the nearby Doddington quarry."
