I thought that this bridge had been bypassed in recent years, but on checking the mid-Victorian six-inch Ordnance Survey map I saw that the road took its present line even then, and this bridge was just an access to Castleton Farm. It was built in 1771, and bypassed by a new bridge in 1802-5. It is a Category C Listed building. Amazingly it not only survives, but is still useable, ands carries a waymarked path.
