Installed in May 2010 on the site of a former ash tip, the 40ft (12m) high statue is named the Lady of the Stream. It depicts a woman watching over local children, a reference to Pengam folklore of youngsters drowning in a stream. The statue was designed with the help of nearby Lewis School Pengam.
