Not so many years ago there were at least seven independent butchers in the town, but in recent years the number has been about five. Unfortunately another one closed a few weeks ago, plus another relocated to a trading estate, but their main business seemed to be with catering establishments. Today there are just three left in the town centre, of which this business is one. It is still quite a remarkable figure for a town with a population of just under 20,000 and with umpteen supermarkets both locally and three miles away in Kidderminster.
