Were they real, the two figures of Triton, the mythological Greek messenger of the sea on the front of Triton Court’s tower would have an excellent view over the Finsbury Square Garden bowling green. This locality, previously known as Finsbury Fields, was part of Moorfields outside the City walls. The fields were used during medieval times for archery and the Lord Mayor's Hunt and then later, during the early C17th, trees were planted and paths laid out. Following the Fire of London in 1666 many people camped on the Fields. Plague victims were also buried here. Triton Court, the office block complex, is currently “For Sale”.
