Palgrave is a compact village with many cottages, the school and the church grouped around the green. There are many tall trees which make this a shady place from late spring. The row of cottages shown date from different periods. The small detached brick building was once the village 'Reading Room'. The grassy area in the foreground forms part of the green and is used as the school play area.
