Specifically 4 Newtown. My great grandfather retired in 1929 from being the station foreman at nearby Marks Tey station. As he and my great-grandmother were no longer entitled to the railway tied cottage they were given new local authority accommodation - this was the house. He died there in 1932 and my great-grandmother moved again! Intended originally as a private development, this estate was quickly taken over by the local council. This house is now back in private ownership.
