The field to the north of Old Nafferton shows a series of incomplete field boundaries or small enclosures of probable Medieval or Post Medieval date were seen as earthworks best seen on air photographs. Most of the buildings at Old Nafferton were demolished in 1843, when it became part of the Bywell Estates. One of the few remaining buildings is a rectangular cow house Image This has very thick walls, and it has been suggested that this may be the remains of the bastle.
