A few yards after the Winson Green Junction Bridge (just behind me) is this bridge that carries the Rugby-Birmingham-Stafford Line across the canal. The Winson Green Junction Bridge also marks the beginning / end of the Soho Loop which is a 1.2-mile (2 km) section of the eighteenth-century Old Birmingham Canal Navigations (BCN) Main Line which opened to traffic on 6 November 1769, and was bypassed in September 1827 by a straight 0.75-mile (1.2 km) section of the New BCN Main Line. This point is about 1.2 miles (1.9 km) west of the city centre and seems very run down with lots of graffiti and derelict buildings.
