This country road to the south of Withington follows the route of a Roman Road. This former road when to the Roman settlement of Kenchester to the west of Stretton Sugwas. To the east it goes to Newtown before heading south-east to Stretton Grandison and Ashperton before going through Pixley and the Trumpet crossroads to and Little Marcle. Beyond it enters Gloucestershire and the parish of Dymock.
