Opened as "Vauxhall" in 1869 by the London & North Western Railway, on the line from Birmingham via Bescot to Stafford, this station replaced two earlier ones at Bloomsbury & Nechells and Lawley Street. It was renamed "Vauxhall & Duddeston" in 1889 and again in 1974 to just "Duddeston". The 1869 station was beyond the bridge in the distance. It was rebuilt to the south of Duddeston Mill Road bridge c.1900. View north towards Aston and Bescot. There used to be 4 platforms here but only 2 were in use when this image was taken. Until the 1980s there were carriage sheds immediately to the right and a wagon repair shed immediately to the left of the platforms.
