Pinehurst was one of the original Thirties "garden cities", with The Circle in the centre, and numerous roads named after trees around it lined with good-sized council houses with large gardens. The row of shops to the right of the picture (see Image]) was built in 1932, but is now due for redevelopment. This picture was taken from the second floor of one of three modern blocks of flats built on the eastern edge of The Circle, and looks out towards Beech Avenue. The red and green objects are temporary storage containers for plant and materials used by the company renewing the gas mains in the area.
