Since the closure of Loughborough bus station in the first few years of this century, Baxter Gate has effectively performed the role; in fact for many it is more convenient, being closer to the centre of the town. One of the routes that terminates here is Kinch Bus service 2, which travels to Leicester via Barrow upon Soar and Sileby and is less direct and less frequent than the 126/127 (operated by Arriva Midlands). Once a local independent, some years ago Kinch Bus was bought by the Wellglade group, the holding company that owns TrentBarton (the original operator of this Scania L94UB/Wright Solar).
