Opened in 1985 by British Rail, this replaced the earlier Eltham Well Hall station (opened in 1895 by the South Eastern Railway) but utilised the eastern end of the former's platforms, underneath the present buildings. In the distance can be seen the entrance to the former Eltham Park station (1908-1935) on the road bridge, showing how close together these stations used to be.
