From 1965 to 1971 this was the site of the Twisted Wheel which was one of the first venues to play Northern Soul. In recent years it was home to The Tunnel & The Oasis, two gay bars on Whitworth Street, part of the Legends nightclub Image It is due to disappear under plans by the Olympian Group and Motel One for a 330-bedroom hotel which will see Legends and the Hotel International demolished whilst Monroes Hotel on the corner will be retained. http://www.placenorthwest.co.uk/news/archive/11038-hodder-unveils-motel-one-plans-for-piccadilly.html
