This large building on the corner of Woodlands Road and Newlands Street was built as the Alexandra Hotel. For most of the 20th century, it was the Barry YMCA building. The letters YMCA remain in the glass above the doorway. After Barry YMCA moved to a new building, the HUB http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3353276 in 2006, this building was converted to flats.
