Shepton Mallet: the marketplace

The marketplace is shrouded in shade now that the winter sun is passing low in the mid-afternoon. The market cross dates from 1520 but was rebuilt in 1847 and can be seen from the sunny side here: Image We are looking along the marketplace from the eastern end, alongside a 70s concrete building which perhaps mars the view towards us from the far end.
