The northern shore of Loch Katrine taken from the SS Sir Walter Scott. The mountain behind the farm is Stob a'Choin. Loch Katrine is the lake in the title of Sir Walter Scott's The Lady of the Lake. It is a freshwater loch roughly 8 miles long by 2/3 of a mile wide, running the length of Strath Gartney. The loch is owned by Scottish Water and is the primary water reservoir for much of the city of Glasgow and the surrounding area. There are three (former?) farms on the northern bank, Strone, Edra and Letter
