In a sign of the present times, pawnbrokers are making a vigorous return to our town centres, after decades when they had almost disappeared. The Money Shop is a branch of an expanding national chain of pawnbrokers, which currently has over 500 branches. It also does payday loans and cheque cashing. The shop next door at number 21 is an unconnected business, Harvey's, who are both jewellers and also pawnbrokers. On the other side of the Money Shop is a branch of Greggs the bakery.
