Although much of the housing stock in this area is earmarked for demolition some will be retained. Here can be seen a gated entry (or alley, or ginnel - take your pick!) at the rear of Highfield Road. Although many object to such gating schemes they do seem to improve the areas involved and allow the residents to make better use of them. Vandalism and the dumping of litter are much reduced.
