Built after the Second World War to provide factories for newly constructed suburban residents to work in. By the 1980s many of the former industrial concerns were closing and the move to retail began in 1987 when ASDA opened on the site of a former engineering firm. The estate also includes the current home of The Argus, the local newspaper and, until they went bust last year, the former headquarters of Sussex Stationers. The road in view is Crowhusr Road which has ASDA to its left.
