Created by Walter Rothschild in 1892, on his death in 1937 it was incorporated into the [national] Natural History Museum. Much research is carried out here in the more modern buildings attached to this site, while these older buildings are open to the public as a splendid and fascinating museum. For several generations, for thousands of schoolchildren within 30 miles or so, "Tring" has been synonymous with a visit to this museum.
