William Wilberforce, 1759-1833, the Member of Parliament for Kingston upon Hull and Yorkshire, and campaigner for the abolition of slavery, was born here. The Kingston upon Hull Corporation bought the house in 1903 and, in 1906, it was opened as a museum of furniture and of material relevant to the life of Wilberforce. This view is of the rear of the house, with steps to the garden, leading to views of the Old Harbour.
