Woolwich Barracks were built between 1776-1802 for the use of the Royal Artillery and claim to have the longest continuous building facade in the U.K. and the largest parade square of any U.K. barracks. Since February 2012 they have been home to the Royal Horse Artillery following the end of their lease on the St John's Wood Barracks in NW8. A section of the South Circular Road (a.k.a. Grand Depot Road and the A205) is seen in front of the parade ground from the entrance to the ruined Garrison Church of St George.
