The Boulevard was the original home of Weston's primary hospital care when it opened in 1928. Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother) officially opened it, as the stone records here. The facility served the community for many years but was finding it difficult to maintain the levels needed; the decision was taken to build a new hospital at Uphill, some miles to the south of the town and opened in 1986.
