Lock number 10 on the Peak Forest Canal; one of the 16 locks in the "Marple Flight" which raise the canal by 209 feet (64m) over the course of 1 mile. Immediately below lock#10, the canal was crossed by the tramway which linked the two parts of the canal until the locks were completed (http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/peak/pf7a.htm Pennine Waterways).
