Until 18/1/65, the ex-Cambrian Railway main line from Whitchurch via Oswestry (left) to Welshpool (right) and on to the Welsh Coast ran along here parallelling the Shropshire Union Canal, but after that date the trains have run only from Shrewsbury via Buttington through Welshpool. Arddleen station was out of sight to the right, its house now a private dwelling.
