The photograph on this page of Pre-worboys sign on the corner of Donkey Lane by David Howard as part of the Geograph project.

On top can be seen the bracket which previously had a red circle, while for unknown reasons the lower half of the sign has been painted over. The design is almost certainly pre-war, and one of the only ones I've ever come across which includes lower case writing, the others known are very similar but use all capitals.
