The Hector McNeil baths were demolished a few years ago and the resulting pile of rubble remains in place, as do several road signs indicating the location of the long closed car park for patrons. This photograph was taken from Brachleston Street. Hector McNeil was the MP for Greenock until his death in 1955. He was also Secretary of State for Scotland and Vice President of the UN General Assembly. McNeil was instrumental in encouraging IBM to locate a computer factory in Greenock in the early 1950s.
