Traffic lights on each side of the bridge maintain an alternating flow of traffic under the bridge, where the roadway is only one lane wide. Maximum headroom (overhead clearance) is shown as 12' 6". Drivers of high vehicles need to take a middle course because of the arch shape of the bridge. Part of Nailsea and Backwell railway station is on the bridge.
