Formerly the Warwick and Birmingham Canal, officially opened on 19th December, 1799, but delayed for business navigation by three months. Amalgamated into the Grand Union Canal Company (GUCC) in 1929 and widened as far as Camp Hill in the 1930s. All access to the canal has been bricked up. Modern industrial units built by the canal rarely have loading wharfs.
