Policewomen Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes were murdered on 18th September 2012. Ashworth Lane was closed for several days as police and forensics investigated the site. A makeshift shrine was set up near the scene where many people left floral tributes. This was also the spot from which the media made their live reports from the scene. The TV reporter here has parked his umbrella on the side of the road and his coffee cup on the boot of a car.
