Millstone at the Woolpack

Whether there was ever a pub of this name is unknown but the millstone appears to be of millstone grit and it also appears unused. It is badly damaged near the centre of the stone. This is an upper stone and the damage is at one end of where the mill rynd, or metal crossbar that supports the stone while it is turning, would have been located. The stone was probably damaged during manufacture and discarded. The millstone appears to be fully dressed with all the grooves (furrows) and lands cut ready for use. There does not appear to have been any water mills close by in recent history.
