Grand Union Canal. This was formerly the Birmingham and Warwick Junction Canal, opened in 1844 to avoid the more heavily locked route through the city. This is Lock No 63. Travelling south, the flight of five Garrison Locks allows a rise of 34ft 5in (10·3 metres) The buildings behind derelict factory walls have actually been demolished and the site is used as an open yard by newer industrial units. I can't think why these walls should have been left standing.
