The area around the busy Uttoxeter Road (A50) in the south of the grid square is largely occupied with dilapidated former pottery works, disused or reused as small businesses. This disused brown-brick factory on Chelson Street near the junction with Uttoxeter Road is representative. The broad arched entrance is common (see, for example, Image). The ornamental street lamps seen throughout the area contrast with the run-down atmosphere
