One of twelve sculptures of three varieties - shot put, javelin and bow and arrows - erected at various points around London as part of the Mayor of London's "Summer like no other" programme, commemorating the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. This one is in General Gordon Square. In the background is The Great Harry, reopened in July 2012 having been destroyed by fire in the August 2011 riots. The name commemorates King Henry VIII's flagship of that name (or more properly Henry Grace à Dieu), built in Woolwich Dockyard in 1512-14.
