Sir Andrew Barclay Walker (who gave the Walker Art Gallery to Liverpool) placed the bronze bust to commemorate Queen Victoria's golden jubilee in 1887. It was sculpted by her nephew Count Gleichen. He also gave the Black Bull pub its mock tudor fascia.
