View southward, towards Lancaster, Preston, Crewe etc.: ex-LNW WCML. This was one of the last trials of the APT-P, the precursor of the 'Pendolinos', which never came into regular service. The station was closed to passengers on 4/7/38, to goods on 1/6/51.
