View eastward, towards Fairlop, Hainault and Leytonstone (formerly to Ilford) on the Woodford - Hainault section of the London Underground Central Line, formerly the ex-GER Woodford - Fairlop - Ilford loop line. It was taken over from BR(ER) (ex-LNER, ex-GER) by the LPTB from 21/11/48: the station remains typical GER and the 'Tube' trains, from miles away at West Ruislip or Ealing Broadway, still seem out of place
