The title would suggest that it was Bolton's only textile mill. In fact it is No.2 of the same name (No.1, now demolished, was on the other corner of Cawdor Street and Campbell Street), and indeed neither mill was originally in Bolton, this area being part of Farnworth Council until absorption into Bolton Metropolitan Borough as part of Greater Manchester.
