The first phase of a 500-home housing development at Easter Langlee is well underway. The site was originally named Melrose Gait but after some local opposition the developers have renamed it Gala Meadow. The first phase comprises 140 houses, a square and a village shop. The new sign beside the old sign is near the site entrance on the C77 Langshaw road.
